Twitterfox is a free Firefox plugin that adds Twitter features to your Firefox. Once you install Twitterfox, it will appear in your Firefox as a small icon in your status bar. Whenever you want to check your Twitter timeline, just click on this icon. A small window will come up which will show your Twitter timeline, your Twitter mentions, and Direct Messages.

I had recently written about a few browser based plugins that integrate Twitter features directly in your browser. For example, Tweetings integrates in Google Chrome, and TwitBin and PowerTwitter are extensions for Firefox.

Few of my readers emailed my that I have missed the most popular Twitter extension for Firefox – TwitterFox. So, I decided to check it out, and was quite impressed with it.

TwitterFox is very well designed, and sits nicely at bottom of your Firefox in form of an icon. The icon itself will keep showing you the unread tweet count in the status bar. So, without opening Twitterfox, you will always know if there is any new activity in your Twitter timeline.

Here are some of the interesting features of Twitterfox:

  • Twitterfox comes with multiple themes, so you can dress your Twitterfox as you like.
  • Twitterfox comes with a nice feature to post link of the page that you are browsing to Twitter.
  • You can configure Twitterfox to get sound notification whenever you get a new tweet.

Another interesting feature of Twitterfox is that it is accompanied by a Free iPhone application called Echofone. When you use Twitterfox in your Firefox, it will sync your unread tweets with your iPhone application.

Twitterfox is really easy to use, and completely free.
