All of us want to help our charities in one way or other, but not all of us have enough money to spare for our favorite charitable causes. However, it is actually possible to gather money for your charity, without actually spending any money.

Here are 3 free software that let you make money to your charity, without donating any money.

1) GlobalMojo

GlobalMojo is a free browser based on same open source technology on which Firefox is based. It is a full featured browser for your everyday browsing needs. What sets GlobalMojo apart is that whenever you surf web using GlobalMojo, you are actually making money for your charity.

GlobalMojo has partnered with many internet companies that pay GlobalMojo when you use their products and services while browsing. For example, Yahoo search. So, while you are using GlobalMojo and try Yahoo search, GlobalMojo gets paid. Similarly, if you do shopping while inside GlobalMojo using selected online companies, GlobalMojo makes money.

Whenever GlobalMojo makes money because of you, it donates 50% of that money to charity of your choice. You can choose charity from the list of charities available in GlobalMojo, or even add your own charity.

It might not seem like a lot of money, but the money keeps accumulating over time. GlobalMojo also shows you how money have you made for your charities, and which activities of yours are helping in making money.

If you do not want to install GlobalMojo, and already use Firefox, you can just install the Firefox plugin of GlobalMojo, and keep earning money for your charities while using Firefox.

GlobalMojo is one of the best way to generate money for your charity. GlobalMojo is one of the lesser known browsers, but a very innovative concept. Try GlobalMojo here.

2) FreeRice

FreeRice.com is another interesting concept to make contribution to charity. FreeRice is an online website, and you do not need to download or install anything to use it. You don’t even need to register. When you go to the website, you will see FreeRice will show you 1 word with 4 possible meanings. You just select the correct meaning. For each correct answer, advertisers on FreeRice will donate 10 grains of rice to world food programme.

I absolutely love FreeRice as it greatly improves my vocabulary and at the same time I end up donating food to those who are in hunger.

As nothing needs to be installed, I find myself playing with FreeRice everywhere: at my home while watching TV, at my office while doing nothing, and just everywhere.

10 grains of rice might not seem that much, but remember that donations keep accumulating. Here is how FreeRice describes it:

Though 10 grains of rice may seem like a small amount, it is important to remember that while you are playing, so are thousands of other people at the same time. It is everyone together that makes the difference. Thanks to you, FreeRice has generated enough rice to feed millions of people since it started in October 2007.

Many months back I had done a small calculation that if all visitors to my website just answer 10 questions daily (which takes less than a minute) for entire year, we will be able to generate enough rice to feed 1000 people for a week!

The traffic to my website has increased many times since that, and now we stand at feeding 1000 people for almost a month with just one minute of our daily time. I don’t think anything beats that :). So, go ahead, and donate some FreeRice, while improving your vocabulary.

3) GoodSearch

The search and donate bars in GoodSearch.

GoodSearch is a search engine that contributes money to your charity when you use it for search. GoodSearch works a lot like GlobalMojo, with the difference that you do not need to install anything. However, it pays your charity only when you use it for search, but GlobalMojo pays your charity for some other activities as well.

If you have installed Globalmojo on your computers, then you can use GoodSearch on the computers on which you do not have GlobalMojo. Your office PC would be a good example of this.

GoodSearch also contributes 50% of revenue to charity of your choice. Try GoodSearch here.

All the software and services mentioned above present a very unique opportunity to help your charities by doing just what you do regularly. So, go ahead and make your pick. You will be doing some good for someone.
