@Dan yeah you are indeed so right Safecopy backup is so good it rocks.I use it too for all my backups.Am glad that i can now backup multiple computers on one account for only $50 a year.This is so awesome.

Great article.Well i really loved it so much.Well with online backups,One has to make a choice.Well,am currently using an online backup solution called safecopy backup for all the backups i need.Safecopy is cheaper than anyother online backup i have ever come across.

@Anthony: Thanks for dropping by. The only additional feature I see from your comment is ability to create local backups. However, I don’t think that’s a really killer feature. I am myself a user of Dropbox and Live Mesh, and the reason I prefer those is they back up my data online as well as my second laptop. That’s the killer feature.

Apart from that, Live Mesh already offers more free space than Dmailer (5GB), and Dropbox lets you get lot of free space by referring friends (I already have more than 5GB with Dropbox).

However, as Tom noted in his article, Dmailer scores really well in terms of sheer simplicity.

I’m Anthony from Dmailer and I’ve read your post with great attention.

I would like to highlight a couple of points, especially regarding the competition.

Mozy is a pure online backup player. The purpose of this software is to make you upload all your data to their servers. The message we want to convey with Dmailer Backup is different: we make you create a local backup on a USB drive first because we think it’s one of the most obvious and simple backup strategy available today. Then, we offer you the option to backup online to get more “redundancy”, just like another insurance policy. Mozy recently added support for local backup in Mozy 2, which shows that our approach makes sense, but it’s a hidden feature in the advanced settings of the software, and it doesn’t offer any options at all (I cannot select different data set for my local and online backup, I cannot store several versions of my files etc…).

Dropbox and Live Mesh are also different, and I can talk about Dropbox because I’m one of their users! Their purpose is to sync content across multiple computers or device and act as an online repository for your files. Today, our approach is to offer our users an efficient backup strategy through local (first) and online backup (second) in one single interface.

As you can see, there is a lot of differences between all these applications and each user should decide which one to use based on his specific needs.
