There’s a whole heap of extensions and apps in the Chrome Web Store that can help you do that, lets see what some of them are.
Weather Underground is one of the most popular ways how people find out about the weather, and what you see on the image down below is its Chrome extension.
When you run it, it opens up in a new tab and automatically detects your location. In case that your location can’t be found, there’s an option for selecting it manually. App shows current weather and also a weather forecast for the next 2 days for any location in the world that you might be interested.

The Weather Channel for Chrome offers the classic 5 day forecast for practically any location in the world.
Upon running this worldwide weather app, which opens up in its own tab, instead of having your location detected automatically, you’ll be asked with a prompt what your location is. After that the 5 columns down below fill out with info on what the weather is gonna be. Current weather is also showed of course.
Instead of running in a tab, YoWindow Weather works like an actual extension.
It adds itself to the top right corner “extensions” section from where you can access its worldwide weather updates by clicking on the extension icon. You get the usual, 5 day forecast. Location is again detected automatically, but you can change it later if you wish by right clicking on the extension icon and selecting Options.

Weather by ExtensionFactory
Another extension that works like an an actual extension is called Weather, just that.
What makes it interesting is the fact that there are 3 sources for weather forecasts for you to choose, Yahoo, World Weather Online and YR.no. After first running the extension by left clicking on it from the top right corner you’re asked to select a location. Webcam updates from major cities of the selected city/country are also available, if they can be found of course.
Last on our list is Lite Weather, which is a lightweight worldwide weather extension aimed at those with older and slower hardware.
Notice how it doesn’t have a fancy background, icons, or anything like that. Forecast is fetched from Yahoo. You’ll have to select your location by opening extensions settings. You can also easily switch between imperial and metric units.
Get Lite Weather.
We suggest that you go with Lite Weather if you want something simple, lightweight for keeping track of weather. For flash worldwide weather updates use Weather by ExtensionFactory but any of the extensions and apps listed here will do really.
