Calcoid is a free calculator app for Android that comes with a beautiful interface. This app lets you do simple calculations, as well as some scientific calculations, like Trignometric, exponential, square root, log, etc. The entire interface is easy to use and screen real estate is not blocked by ads (it does show ads; which we will discuss down the line).

Now, there are many calculator apps for Android already available. What I liked in this app is the fact that it has a nice interface, and all the functions are neatly arranged.

As you can see above, this is a pretty nice interface. You can use this calculator app, like any other calculator app for Android. Here are various functions that this calculator provides:

  • Deg
  • Rad
  • Exp
  • Log
  • Sin
  • Cos
  • Tan
  • 1/x
  • Sin -1
  • Cos -1
  • Tan -1
  • e
  • Sin h
  • Cos h
  • Tan h
  • ln
  • X!
  • X2
  • X3
  • Pi
  • Square Root

Apart from these functions, it also provides all basic arithmetic operations, as well as save to memory operations (M+, M-, MR, MC).

The software has a settings icon at bottom right corner, which takes you to a screen which does not have anything useful (just Privacy Policy etc.). This app has a paid version as well, which has additional features, the best being able to change background color.

Ads Displayed on Calcoid:

One of the things I like about this calculator app is that it does not shows ads on main interface, so entire screen real estate is available to do your work. However, it does shows ads. It actually shows full screen ads, every now and then. When you start the app, it will show a full screen ad. When you switch to Settings screen, it will show ad. Thankfully, I haven’t seen any ad while I was actually working on the calculator; which is the only saving grace. Here is a screenshot of ad that it shows:

To close these ads, you have to click on the small cross icon that comes on top right corner.

I didn’t like these ads. But, then I don’t know which ads I would have preferred, as I definitely liked the fact that it does not shows banner ads on main interface. So, I guess I will have to live with them.

My Opinion About Calcoid:

I really like the interface of this calculator app. Also, I like the fact that it gives some advanced functions, even though it is not a full fledged scientific calculator. However, they could have done something better about the ads.
