Text-Compare.com is a free text comparison website that lets you compare text online. You just need to provide original text, modified text, and this website will quickly show you text comparison report. In addition to this, it also lets you email text comparison report. Best part is that you do not need to register with this website, or download anything.
This is the easiest online text comparison website that I have come across. Just go to the website, paste your texts, and you are done. The entire process takes just a few moments. It does lacks any advanced features, but more than makes up for that with its simplicity.
How to Compare Text Online with Text-Compare.com
Screenshot above shows the interface of this online diff tool. As you can see, it’s a pretty basic interface. And there are no options to register etc. To compare text, start by pasting your original text in the left side box. And similarly, paste the modified text in the box on right side.
Now, just click on the big “Compare” button. This will start the comparison process and the website will immediately show your online text comparison report. It will show both original as well as modified text, and highlight differences between them.

As you can see, it has neatly highlighted the differences in both the texts. It shows differences in terms of changed words, missing text, and even shows difference due to different casing of text (one text being uppercase and other being lowercase).
Once you have done text comparison online, you can email the report. For that, click on “Email this comparison” button and provide your email address. The report will come to your email address as a screenshot. Below is the screenshot of above report that came to my email.

Modify Text Comparison Settings:
This online text comparison software provides some basic options to modify how it compares text. For this, click on “Edit Texts” button on homepage of the website. It will show following options:
- To Lowercase: This option will convert all your text to lowercase. This conversion will happen on entire text, and will happen on original as well as modified text. This feature primarily lets you do text comparison by ignoring case of modified text.
- Sort Lines: This option lets you sort lines in original as well as modified text.
- Replace Line Breaks with Spaces: As the name implies, this option simply converts line breaks to spaces in both the texts.
- Remove Excess White Space: This option can replace addition white space in text on both the sides.
My opinion about this online text comparison website:
I have been using this website since more than a week now. I use it for communicating changes to my writers, so that they know what changes I made to the articles they submitted. The most useful feature I find is the email comparison report option, that lets me email the report. This ensures I do not need to install any text comparison software on my PC.
Also, this website mentions that it does not saves or shares the text that you compare. Even good!
