Electronics Assistant is free software to calculate values of unknown circuit components. Electronics Assistant lets you find the unknown circuit component’s values from known circuit component’s values by using predefined formulae for circuits.

With Electronics Assistant you can easily calculate the values using the predefined formulae for Resistance Capacitance, Inductance, Power, Frequency, and many more parameters. I really liked that it is very easy to use Electronics Assistant. The interface is good and the calculations are done instantly.

I have tested Electronics Assistant in Windows 7. I had no problem in running Electronics Assistant and it worked great for me.

I have posted an image below, in which I have shown the calculation for Resistor and Capacitor values for 555 timer in Astable Multivibrator mode. Note that the Frequency here is user defined for 555 timer.

Working With Electronics Assistant to Find Values of Circuit Components:

In order to use Electronics Assistant you have to install it. Installation is easy and it hardly takes a couple of minutes. After installation you will have a really nice interface of Electronics Assistant. I have posted the snapshot for user interface below.

Electronics Assistant - User Interface

What I really liked is, it is easy to select the menu options from the top to select a particular formulae. You can browse to any of the options, select it, and then input the circuit component values.

From the menu options you can select either of the options as mentioned below:

  • Resistance.
  • Capacitance.
  • Inductance.
  • Power.
  • Frequency.
  • Other:
    • Ohms Law Calculator.
    • Peak – RMS converter.
    • Potential Divider Calculator.
    • Voltage Regulator Calculator.
    • Wheatstone Bridge Calculator.

Electronics Assistant lets you save the work as reports for later referencing and you can print the report also.

If you want to refer to certain terms of electronics, then you can also check out Online Resources. I really like this feature as it made referencing really easy.

Features of Electronics Assistant:

  • Software is really small in size.
  • Very simple and easy to understand user interface.
  • Calculation of values for unknown circuit components is really fast.
  • Option to print the calculations.
  • Option to open multiple Windows for different calculations.
  • Option to save the calculated value: I really liked this feature as you can do any calculation as you want and then save it for later referencing.
  • Online Resources: You can use this feature if you want to search for some specific term. I was able to find certain electronic terms very easily.

I have reviewed another similar software ECD using which you can calculate values of circuit components.

Conclusion:

Electronics Assistant is really simple to use and it works just good. I really liked the user interface and the speed of calculation. The menu options provided are though limited but they do a great job. Though, I would have preferred more options for calculation but still, Electronics Assistant is good enough for learning about electronics. If you work in field of electronics, or you are a student/hobbyist, or you just want to learn about electronics calculations then I would recommend you to try it out.
