Interface of GOTCHA! Data Backup can be seen on the screenshot above. This window is the only one that this free data backup software has but it’s more than enough. Starting from the top, we have the files and folders list, where we can view and choose files or folders which we want to backup. Next, there is an address bar for entering the destination address of the backed up files or folders, then there is an option to choose whether to copy or move (cut) the files or folders which you will backup, a Backup button and the last is a progress bar for keeping track of backup status.

Similar software: Hybir Backup, File Fort, Ocster Data Backup.

You might notice that under the progress bar, on the left, you have the blue text which states; Restore. This is a button which will open up the restore window. This window is actually a standard Windows browser window where you will simply find the backups files or folders you want to restore. Key features of GOTCHA! Data Backup are:

  • Free with simple to use interface – quickly setup data backup
  • Backup multiple files and folders at the same time
  • Option which can easily restore backed up files and folders
  • Select if your backed up files will be copies of the original files or they will be the moved original files

How to backup files and documents with Gotcha! Data Backup

When you start the free GOTCHA! Data Backup you can start backup right away. From the files and folders list you choose the files or folders which you want to backup, choose the type of backup (copy or move) and click on the BACKUP button below that list. This process will finish fast, depending on the number of selected files, and you will have your backed up files ready for storing or transfer to another computer.

Notice that the folders that you can select to backup are important Windows locations where data is stored, like My Documents, system settings, even product keys. This is because GOTCHA! Data Backup was created to perform Windows backup right before you need to reinstall the system, and so that they can be easily restored after installation.

If you want to restore the backed up files and folders you can do it manually or you can use the built-in Restore option. Simply click on the Restore and the new window will open where you will be able to restore your files and folders to the exact place from where they were backed up.

Conclusion
