Runtastic Heart Rate for Android is a free Android app which helps you check your heart rate by simply using your phone. The app uses your device’s camera to measure your heart rate.
This free app is great as it allows anyone to instantly measure their heart rate anywhere. All your previous results are stored in the app and you can access them anytime from the history tab. You can even share your heart rate on all of the popular social Medias.
This app comes from the makers of Runtastic Pedometer app for Android. Do note that I haven’t checked accuracy of data shown by this app, but going by the number of downloads and high ratings, I am assuming this app is fairly accurate.
Using Runtastic Heart Rate for Android:

Once installed, launch the app from the app drawer and you will have the interface in front of you as seen below. Here you supposed to sign in to the app using Facebook or your email address. Once signed in, the app will ask you for a password and basic information about you.
Once done with initial setup, Runtastic Heart Rate app will give you explanation on how to use the app.
When you are in the main interface of Runtastic Heart Rate for Android simply press the ‘touch to star’ button and then place your index finger lightly on the camera.
The app will start recording your heart rate and give you the result as seen below. From this interface you can also input the measuring type and how you feel. After this you will be provides the options to share the results online.
While recording data, do not press too hard on the camera or measure with cold finger as this will affect the accuracy of the results. If you have a phone which does not have a flashlight, then use the app in well-lit location.
All you measurements will be recorded and saved and you can access them any time by going to the history section.
