Doublie: Installation And User Interface
Before you can start using Doublie to have fun with your selfies, you obviously need to install it to your iPhone. Doing so is really simple. All you have to do is hop over to the iOS app store, search for the app, and tap the Install button. Once installed, you can launch Doublie by tapping its app icon. Here’s how the primary user interface of this app looks like:
As illustrated by the above screenshot, Doublie has a simplistic user interface, with just the required options and nothing more. Each of the corners has a shortcut for one or more of app settings. The top left and right corners have flash settings and front/rear camera toggle respectively. Coming to the bottom edge, the bottom left corner has an icon that lets you view all of your recently snapped selfies. In the middle is the virtual camera button that you have to tap to take selfies. However, it’s the overlay selector icon on the bottom right corner that we’re interested in. Using Doublie to jazz up your selfies is super easy. Essentially, all you have to do is take a selfie, select an overlay and you’re done. Here’s a little step by step tutorial anyway, illustrating how to get started with Doublie:
Step 1: Fire up the app, strike a best shot and press the virtual camera button to take your selfie (I guess almost everyone knows how to do that!). Once you do that, the overlay selector UI should automatically pop-up from the bottom right corner (If it doesn’t, simply tap the selector icon in the corner). Here’s how it looks like:
As you can see, the selector UI is a circular interface that pops up from the right corner. This circle can be rotated by swiping it to either side, and has a lot of options regarding the overlays that you can add to your selfie. You can add celebrities, accessories, tech gadgets and a lot more. When you’ve made your choice, simply tap on it to head over to the next step.
Step 2: Once you’ve made the selection, you’ll notice a second circular selector UI will pop up over the previous selector. This lets you select the available overlays under the category of overlays selected in the previous step. As with the previous option, make your selection and tap to select it.
Step 3: Once you’ve made your selection, your celebrity (or any other thing, if you’ve selected that) will appear as an overlay on your selfie. You can easily resize, move, or rotate your celebrity overlay using standard iOS multi-touch gestures to your preferences. When done, click Next (to capture the image again, tap the Retake icon on the top left corner).
Step 4: That’s pretty much it. Once you click Next, your pimped up selfie will be automatically saved to your iPhone’s camera roll. You can also share it directly with your friends on major social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can also share it via SMS. How cool is that?
