I am one of those whose desktop is usually cluttered. All my files, downloads, and every damn icon goes to desktop. Today I found a simple free software that can easily clean up the desktop, and also keep doing it on a scheduled basis – absolutely ideal for me.
Deskcretary acts like your personal secretary to keep your desktop clean (hence the name). What it does is that it archives all the non-important items of your desktop, and stores them separately. The archives are stored by date.

To browse and search those archives, Deskcretary comes with a built-in explored. Using that you can easily browse your archives, and also search within them.
Deskcretary provides option to schedule the desktop cleaning. It gives you many options for scheduling. You can set up daily/weekly/monthly cleanig up your desktop. You can even choose the days of the week when your desktop should be cleaned. Really good.
Deskcretary gives you the option to select the type of files to archive, or not archive. If there are some files that you want to remain on your desktop, you can easily specify that in Deskcretary.
All in all, Deskcretary works really well, and is a very useful software for people like me. The best part is that it is totally free. Love it!
