Gspace is a Firefox plugin that allows you to use your Gmail account for online storage. File extensions are not an issue, you can upload any type of file which includes music files to stream directly with this Firefox extension.
Another advantage is that you can use unlimited Gmail accounts. It is similar to the Gmail drive that is available for windows. It provides for a simple and easy user interface and can be used from the toolbar. It opens in a new tab in an FTP client like interface. You can store music online, and listen to it directly, transfer files between your computer and Gspace, view photos and even manage your Gdrive anytime and anywhere.
How to Install GSpace:
- Download the Gspace installation by selecting your operating system or [Select ‘Add-ons’ from Firefox ‘Tools’ Menu. Search for ‘gspace’ on the ‘Get Add-ons’ tab. Select ‘Gspace’ and click on ‘Add to Firefox’.]
- Click ‘Install Now’ when the installation screen appears
- Once installed, Gspace will be available and listed with other Firefox extensions.
- Done. You’re now ready to use Gspace.
How to Use GSpace:
- Once installed, open Firefox. Go to: Tools > Gspace. The Gspace console will appear.
- Manage your Gmail accounts[Remember : Each Gmail account provides you 7Gb of space ]
- Login to any of your Gmail accounts.
- Gspace console is divided in 4 areas : My Computer / My Gspace / Transfers / Status. These can be used to manage your files.

- Player Mode: to listen to your music directly from Gspace
- Photo Mode: to view your albums / pictures
- Gmail Drive: to manage your Gdrive files
Editor’s Note: Frankly, I am a bit surprised that Google is still permitting this type of use of Gmail service. I am not sure what is the reason for that, but I would go with the assumption that Google can shutdown such services at any time. So, I would not use this type of service to store my important docs. I would rather stick with services like Dropbox alternatives or Mozy Alternatives to store important documents, and use GSpace to store unimportant files, like music file, large videos etc.
