FaceBook has launched FaceBook Lite – A completely stripped down version of FaceBook. It just has the options of “Write”, “Post Photos”, and “Post Video”. All other options have been taken out. You can login to FaceBook lite with your normal Facebook account, and see your updates there is stripped down version, or create a new account for FaceBook lite.
Many people are surprised that why Facebook did that. It seems they are trying to compete with Twitter. The reviews all over the web have been quite mixed. Some of the people like it, and many don’t. In my case, I absolutely love it. I have not been a heavy user of Facebook, because it sometimes looks a bit overwhelming. On the other hand, I do feel lot of functionalities lacking in Twitter, especially, no option to have an update more than 140 characters.
For me, FaceBook lite turns out to be quite ideal. It has all the important options that I need without overwhelming me with millions of other options. I can write my updates, and share my photos and videos. So, it is like an advaned and much improved Twitter for me.
