E-File Tax returns is a free federal tax return filing website. It is a part of the IRS free file alliance. Free federal tax preparation is available only if your adjusted gross income (AGI) is between $4,000 and $58,000 and you live in the following states: AL, AR, AZ, CA CO, CT, DC, DE, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME,MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, UT, VA, VT, WI, WV.

People who do not qualify for the free filing, will be charged a nominal amount to file your tax return online. Also state returns are chargeable, and state returns can be e-filed too. If your federal return is chargeable then you don’t have to pay for the state return. For example, if you are paying $22.99 for your federal tax return, this will also cover the charge for your state return if you are filing both of them together.

New users will have to create an account and sign in to start. After you sign in you will be asked basic questions related to your taxes and you will be asked to enter data from your W2, 1099’s etc. After entering all the information you will be asked if you want to e-file or paper file.

You can also check out other free tax file software, like Jackson Hewitt Online, and H&R Block free.

In case you run into any issues you can always contact customer service through email. There is a secure email address on your dashboard, through which you can ask any questions. After finishing filing the website also allows you to take or print copies of your tax return. The website offers free copies of your tax return any time during the year. Just login to your account and print copies of your return.

If you choose to e-file your return, you will receive a notification from the IRS within 24-48 hours. It is like a confirmation email from the IRS saying that they received your tax return. Within a few days you will receive a second email from the IRS acknowledging that your return was accepted.

E-File Tax returns is overall a safe website to file your return with. If you qualify for the free file then nothing tops that. Plus you will be able to file your state tax return online with the website as well.
