Firemin is a free application designed to eliminate memory leaks on Mozilla Firefox browsers. The program comes with a memory management engine applied to both the browser and its extensions to ensure that memory leaks are eliminated.

Mozilla Firefox has for a very long time been plagued by memory leaks which are quite evident when the program is left to run for long. Running Firefox continuously for a period of about a few days causes the browser to consume about  600MB of memory which increases with longer the program is left to run. For a browser, this is too much and is a clear indication of memory leaks. Firemin simply eliminates these memory leaks.

How to use it

This memory management app for Firefox requires no installation, all you need to do is unzip the program files into a directory of your choice and run the program from there. When opened, the program minimises to tray. The program does not have anything you can call a user interface, rather, everything is accessed via the tray icon. Optimizing your browser memory management is very easy, right click on the tray icon and select Optimize Firefox. A dialog box with a progress bar opens and takes you through the optimization process.

Program settings can be accessed by clicking Options. From here you can set Firefox to open in either normal or safe mode when Firemin is launched. You can also set the intensity of optimization using the provided slider. If optimization is done very fast , Firefox uses less memory but more processing power is needed and vice versa. It is therefore recommended that you strike a balance between memory usage and processing power needed.

The tray icons can also be used to launch Firefox in both normal and safe modes by selecting the respective menus. Product information is also accessed via the tray icon. To check for program updates, select the Update Firemin menu. The memory management Firemin can be fully exit by clicking Exit in the tray icon.

Verdict

Firemin is a simple effective tool to eliminate memory hogging in Firefox. It does what Mozilla developers have been unable to do for quite sometime now.
