In this article we will find out how you can convert any  IP Address to a Hostname (Domain name) that perfectly resolves back to it using a service called Backname.io.

Backname.io is a unique DNS server that provides every IP address with its own free domain that resolves back to the original IP address. The service is publicly live and free of charge. The service is very handy for those users who wish to host something on a server but do not have a domain name.

Working:

The process is extremely simply and straightforward. Simply attach backname.io as a suffix at the end of your IP address and voila! you get your domain free of charge. Most importantly, this free domain resolves back your original IP address when tested against any name server lookup tools.

For example, if your IP address is 1.2.3.4 then you can use the domain 1.2.3.4.backname.io which will resolve to 1.2.3.4 when tested. Just look at the screenshot below. We have used the nslookup tool as well as nslookup.io and verified that the domain name resolves correctly.
