In this article, you will learn a simple approach to schedule the dark theme in Firefox. This Firefox extension will let you switch your theme automatically depending on the current time of the day.
The manual option plays an important role to change the working time. This is so because not everyone sets the same time fondness to work. Each person has their own preference and time management, that’s why they could choose the preferred dark theme and daytime theme manually.
How to Schedule Dark Theme in Firefox?
In order to schedule Dark Theme in Firefox, all you need to do is open the Firefox browser and then visit this link. Clicking on the given link takes you to the Firefox Add-ons page where you have to hit the “Add to Firefox” button as shown in below snapshot.
At this time, a new tiny window pops-up on the screen that requires your permission to access browsing history and browser tabs. So, click on the “Add” button and give your consent. If you want to run this extension in Private Windows, mark the checkbox and click on the “Okay, Got It” option.
Now, go to the top-right corner of the page and click on the Open menu button that is available in the three horizontal lines. And from the menu list, click on the “Add-ons” option. In an alternative way, you can also use the “Ctrl+Shift+A” Shortcut key to open the Add-ons page.
From the left sidebar list, you need to select Extensions and then look for the “automaticDark – Time Based Theme Changer”. In the right end, you will see a three horizontal dotted line. Clicking on this line, it prompts a context menu where you need to select “Options”.
In the automaticDark Options page, it lets you automatically set the theme for sunset and sunrise based on your required geolocation. However, if it is required, you can also set the timing of dark theme manually which is by default set to 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
On the same page, you will see two other options that let you set the daytime theme and the nighttime theme accordingly. In this section, you will have to click on the drop-down menu and can switch it to either the Light option or to the Dark option as per your requirement.
Once you complete the above procedure to set the sunrise/sunset times, the tool will automatically get switched at the corresponding time. In the above snapshot, you can see the dark mode I have applied to the Firefox browser.
In this tutorial, I have explained the way to use a pretty important Firefox add-on. It lets you switch the daytime theme and the nighttime theme automatically as per your need. This tool is named as automaticDark, and it is available at free of cost. I have been using this extension tool for a couple of weeks and didn’t notice a single flaw while performing it. The most interesting thing about this tool is that unlike other software programs, it doesn’t change the appearance of the site.
