In this article we will be explaining the steps to extract files from a compressed Archive via a Keyboard Shortcut. For this, we will be using Zippy which is a small, light-weight addon for 7-Zip.

7-Zip is a widely used, free and open-source file archiver and compression utility. Its has its own native archive format called 7z but can also read and write other popular archive formats as well such as Zip, RAR, DMG and many more.

Working:

1. Click this link to download and install 7-Zip in your computer if you do not already have it installed in your system.

2. Click on this link to download the Zippy add-on from GitHub as an MSI file (zippy.msi) and install it in your computer.

3. Navigate to the folder in windows explorer where you have stored the compatible archive and click on it to select it.

4. Now, press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + e and you will observe that all the files from the selected archive will be unzipped and saved in the default sub-folder.

5. You can also select multiple Zip files and unzip them using the same method as stated above.

6. To exit from the program, right click its tray icon and then hit ‘Exit’.
