Facebook has recently launched a new feature to watch videos together on Facebook Messenger. This feature is called Watch Together which allows you to enjoy Facebook Watch videos with friends. You can create a watch party with friends and then pick a video to watch together.
This happens via video call on Messenger. You can create a watch party with a group of up to 8 people and watch together the same video in the group along with video call footage. If you want to include more than 8 people, you can do create a messenger room and have a watch party with up to 50 participants at once. This feature is available in the Facebook Messenger worldwide and here is how you can use it.
Watch Videos Together on Facebook Messenger
Since Facebook Messenger is available across platforms, you can create a Watch Party from any device whether it’s Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, Linux, or ChromeOS. To create a Watch Party, simply tap on the chat of the person with whom you want to watch together and start a video call.
If you want to add multiple people to the party, you can create a chat group with all those people and then start a video call. And, if you like to add more people, up to 50, then you can create a Messenger Room, add all those people and then start a video call.
When you are in the video call, a “Watch Together” option automatically pops up on your screen. Simply tap on that option to get a list of Facebook Watch video. If the pop up doesn’t appear, you can just swipe up on the controls to get teh same feature along with an option to share your screen.
From the Facebook Watch, you can pick a video to watch. You can search for a video or find one from suggested, music, watched and saved. When you select a video, it starts playing. The video covers the majority of the screen real estate shifting the video chat feeds of the people at the bottom. All the people in the video call see the video and control the playback. People can also choose another video to watch and use the on-screen emoji option to share their reaction.
This is how you can watch videos together on Facebook Messenger. The feature is handy and the overall experience is nice as well. The video quality stays good as well as the video chat feeds. The only possible downside is that you are stuck with Facebook Watch videos. There is no option to watch videos from external sources.
