Edit photo, apply effects, and save them using this Windows 8 photo editor app:

This Windows 8 photo editor app, certainly is really a good photo editing app. First of all, it’s completely free. Then, it’s functional, and consists of really good photo editing features. It gives you options to not only apply the effects, but you can also manually change their brightness, contrast, sharpness, and saturation. Playing with brightness, saturation, contrast, and sharpness using there slider is a good option because it gives you the freedom to set their levels to what you actually desire. And if you don’t want to do this manually, then you can enhance them by just clicking on one single button under the Enhance section. The Enhance consists of four enhancements: Auto, Night, Backlit, and Balance. Each of these adds a separate effects on the entire photo.

ImageEditors - main screen

One feature that I got stuck with was the Camera option in this app. The app integrates well with the Camera app of Windows 8, and you can even take photo directly and import them in this app. But, in my case after taking the photo it gave me no option to edit it. However, the other option, that is Pictures Library in the main screen, works quite well. Using it you can select photo stored locally or in SkyDrive for editing purpose. The app integrates with SkyDrive in a very good way. You can not only directly import pictures but you can also save photos directly in SkyDrive, after editing.

ImageEditors - editing screen

One good trait that makes this app a really good Windows 8 photo editor is, it gives you number of options inside each single buttons (effects and other options) in the photo editing screen. Simply click on desired button in the editing screen, and you’ll get it’s corresponding effects and options. The main buttons in the editing screen consists of: Enhance, Effects, Stickers, Brightness, Sharpen, Saturation, Contrast, Orientation, Stickers, Redeye, Text, Drawing, Whiten, and Blemish. However the app doesn’t have the Undo button. That’s quite a setback.

Simply select a photo using the Pictures Library button in main screen and then click on Edit button, to get to the editing screen. And then add effects and edit them to make them look good.

ImageEditors - cropping and apply

Good thing is you can test the enhancements and effects and if you don’t like them, you can simple click on back button to get back, and click on Apply button to finalize the adjustment. And once you are done, simply click on Done. The app will show you both the photos before and after applying the edits and effects. Helping you to compare them. And if you wish you can save it from the same screen, all you need to do is click on Save button. The app lets you save files in two most popular image formats: Jpg and Png.
