Pastebin is a free webservice wherein you can paste text to share with your friends, and keep it there for a certain period of time. You can paste text,  and share it with your friends, family or even with your colleagues. Also, you can choose for how long the particular post should remain, because after the specified time period that post will automatically get deleted.

You can also choose to keep your paste public, or private. This can all be done for free, without a need to download or install any software. Anyone is welcome to paste any type of word one likes to, however, it is widely used by techies to store configuration information or pieces of sources code .

The main purpose behind this productive website is to make it more convenient for people to share large amount of text. Pastebin also has the supplementary option to make private pasting. The private pastings are visible only to the people you choose to share your links with. This actually I thought was a drawback of Pastebin. It does not give an option to password protect your private pastes. If anyone knows the URL of your private paste, she/he can see it. I would definitely love to see an option of password protection for private pastes.

In addition, you will also come across with a program called Pastebin Desktop. This program lets you upload the content directly to Pastebin without dropping onto the Web site. With Pastebin Desktop, you are able to take full advantage of your account directly from your desktop. There is an icon in your system tray (at the bottom right corner), which lets you access the full application.

The best part about is that this web application is absolutely free of cost. The availability of numerous features offered by makes it worth trying out.

  • The type of link you would like for the paste (normal, raw, or download)
