LyricsSeeker Plugin is an add-on that allows its users to add lyrics to Windows Media Player using the MetroLyrics database of lyrics. It allows its users to get direct access to the lyrics for particular songs, as long as the audio played through Windows Media Player is correctly meta tagged. If you do not have proper tags with your music files, yo can use SoundMaven or MusicBrainz Picard to add missing tags.

Apart from Windows Media Player, LyricsSeeker Plugin also adds lyrics to iTunes, and Winamp.

The plugin is a convenient way for people to find out the lyrics of songs they are listening to without having to do lots of searching all over the internet. Lyrics using this plugin are found almost instantly, meaning that it is very easy for the users in question to get to the lyrics. This means it is very useful for someone who often needs to check up on lyrics as they listen, helping them to keep singing along.

Easy Access to Online Lyrics

When LyricsSeeker is used to add lyrics to Windows Media Player, it looks at the meta data for the track playing and then searches the database of over 450,000 songs and 15,000 artists that MetroLyrics has online for a song that matches that data.

When it finds the lyrics for your song in its database, the software provides a small tooltip at the bottom of your screen that links to the MetroLyrics page for the song in question. Unfortunately, you do need to have an internet connection to do this and the lyrics will load up in your internet browser rather than in a dedicated window for the software.

Final Thoughts…

LyricsSeeker is a handy bit of free software to add lyrics to Windows Media Player as it has access to the huge MetroLyrics database. It loses out to other free software that add lyrics to media player (like, Lyrics Plugin and EvilLyrics) because it has to open up a browser window instead of all running within the software or media player. However, the simplicity is certainly welcome and makes life very easy indeed.
