CourseBuffet is a free website which let’s you find free online courses on various subjects from over 250 Universities. The website has organized courses in such a way that you can find them through subject, university or provider.
Subjects which you can explore are animal sciences, art & design, business, communications, computers & tech, Economics, education, engineering, English & literature, health & nutrition, history, humanities, language, life sciences, math & statistics, science, and social science. Each subject has many topics in its sub categories.
Some popular universities from which these courses have been taken are Berkley, Caltech, Cornell, Duke, Harvard, IIT, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Notre Dame, Princeton, Purdue, Stanford, Yale, etc.
Providers for these online courses are some popular websites like coursera, edx, first business MOOC, future learn, iversity, MRuniversity, novoed, Saylor, Udacity, open2study, etc.
Once you sign into the website by creating an account, you will be taken to your dashboard which sums up the courses you have taken or want to take. Initially when you create your account, your dashboard will be empty, like shown in the screenshot below.
Now go to the top right side where you see a three horizontal bar icon, which will open the menu options for you. Like seen in the screenshot below.
From here you can search for a online course through subject, university or provider. You can also go through the FAQ section and read the blog of this website.
The search will come up with lot of results, from which you can choose which one you want to go through. For example, I searched under English and got various courses which I could study. You can either bookmark a course for viewing it later, or click the view course tab which brings up the below screen.
Here you can see that this course is from Berkley University and available through EDX. You can also see under the title of the course that there are 2 alternatives available to this course. Which means you can compare which one you wanna take among the three.
You also get the option to mark it as completed or enrolled or save it for later use. If you want to start with the course then click on the go to course button. This button will open the course in the EDX website, where you can read about the course content in detail and enroll for this course.
Alison, is another website which you can use to learn lot of online courses free.
CourseBuffet is a nicely done website which organizes online courses in a such a way that it is easy for you to find as well as compare courses offered by different universities. The online courses can be searched easily using the subject name.
