The NBCUniversal News Group is getting ready to deliver news to the next generation of Windows with its NBC News Windows 8 app. This free app for Windows 8 called NBC News delivers all the news from the NBC network to your computer in a simple tile based interface. The interface allows you to quickly go through all the exclusive and original news from the trusted sources of the NBC Group.
The interface of Nbcnews.com Windows 8 app is amazingly fluid and easy to use. The Nbcnews.com Windows 8 app allows you to the go through the news of different sections. One thing that liked about this app is that you can pin each of the categories individually to the start page so that you can view each one’s updates in a live tile on your start screen. The news are cached on to your computer so that you can view them offline even when you are not connected to the Internet.
When you open up the application you will be able to see news that are divided into categories. These categories include Top stories, World News, Technology, Health, Today, NBC Politics, Travel, Science, and U.S News. The screen shot below was taken when I collapsed the categories so that I could give you a overview of the categories the application provides.
By default of most the categories will be expanded. If you are not interested in a category, then just press the collapse button to make it disappear. Once collapsed they will show up as seen in the screen shot below. In this manner you can disable some sources if you are not interested in them and keep the app clean and customized according to your need.
To re-enable them just click on the expand button. In this manner you can arrange news according to needs and taste in a personalized manner. To pin a particular category to the start menu just click on the pin icon located just next to the collapse button. When you do so then news category will form a live tile and you can get updates about a particular category even without opening the application.
