Here comes a free transparent text and Markdown file viewer, named as TextOverlayTool. This utility is really handy when you have to read a text or Markdown file while working with other windows. You can open a text or Markdown file on its interface, enable the option to keep it on the top, and read the file content when working with any other window. Whether you are playing a game, watching a YouTube video, or using File Explorer, you can read your file.
You can also set the opacity and change the background color of its interface.
There is one more feature that I liked a lot. You can save your text or Markdown file as PDF or HTML file. So, there are a couple of interesting features are offered by this software.
Do note that it is only a Text / Markdown viewer, and not an editor. So, to make any changes to your files, you can use any of the traditional Notepad or any other text editor software.
Above you can see a text file opened by me on its transparent and borderless interface.
How To Use This Transparent Text and Markdown File Viewer?
Using this text and Markdown file viewer is very easy. Download its zip file, extract it, and launch the software. Its interface has a White background color (by default).
Now to open a text or Markdown file, you can use the associated icon available at the top right side on its interface. There is also a refresh button which you can use to see the changes (if any) done by you in the input file. You don’t have to first close the file and re-open it on its interface to view the changes. If you wish to save the file as PDF or HTML file, you can use the icon available just before to Open icon.
Just next to Open icon, Settings icon is available. Using that icon, you can change the background color, make it remain always on top, enable auto refresh when the document changes and set the Window opacity.
This is all you can do with this software. Use options as per your need and read the text or Markdown file content.
The software has a straightforward interface and really good to read a text file or Markdown file. I really like the fact that I can always keep it on top and view contents of my files in its transparent window.
