Basecamp is a known name in the field of project management. Recently, they have launched a free version of their tool with some limitation for personal use. The free personal plan of Basecamp offers your management of 3 projects, 20 users, and 1 GB storage. If you are a freelancer or work with small projects then this will be a very good option for you. However, the advanced features are still missing and to get those, you will have to upgrade to the paid plan. Basecamp is known for its simplicity and doesn’t come with loads of features like Kanban board or other complicated things. It is simple and straightforward to manage any kind of projects.

In the personal plan of Basecamp, you are given the group chat feature known as campfire, todos, schedules, document and files, messaging boards, activity feed, and check-ins. Here you can add new tasks and then assign them to any team members after inviting them to your projects. Also, you can see the tasks assigned to you and then work on them accordingly. On the main interface, you have access to all these things and options for managing any kind of project in simple way. You just sign up for a free account and get started.

The other features can be used in the same way and you can easily understand them and get hang of them. The interface is simple and you can easily manage small projects. Only thing that may disappoint you is the lack of integration of other features. But I think that the free plan is good but if and you need Slack integration like features then you can use some other free project management tools out there.

Closing words

Basecamp used to have a quite expensive business plan for their project management tool. But with the release of the free personal plan, I think they will gain more users and I actually liked it. Basecamp has the simplest interface and approach for project management and that’s what they are popular for. So, if you want to try Basecamp with minimum features for free forever then you just sign up for the free account and rest of the things are self-explanatory there.
