Deciber is a free noise measurement app for Android that detects noise and provides real-time measurement reading. When active, it measures the sound pressure level (loudness) in dB and the frequency in Hz around you. Whether you’re watching a Football match, passing through a crowded area, or reading books quietly in a library, you can simply detect the amount of noise around you and share it with others for fun. Similar to another noise measurement app “Sound Meter“, “Deciber” also measures sound in dB and shows the real-time results.
Take your Android device out of your pocket to detect the noise level, and capture screenshot of the result to share. It also shows the average noise and maximum noise level you have reached by using this app. The screenshot will also have the time and date of capture on it. The best part of this app is that it uses your camera to capture background when you take screenshots.
How to Measure Noise Level around you using “Deciber”:
Step 1: After installing this app, you can simply open it and start detecting noise. It is a single screen app without any manual options, which makes it less complex for you.
Step 2: The top section of the screen will show the real-time sound pressure level (SPL) in decibels. You will also be able to see the average noise and maximum noise levels reached.
Step 3: The bottom section of the screen shows the maximum threshold and the frequency (Hz) in real-time. At the middle of the screen, you will see the date and time of measuring noise.
Step 4: As we have already discussed, that it uses your default camera to capture the background while taking screenshots. The below image shows the screenshot of a noise measurement result.
Step 5: Using this app is pretty simple, as all you have to do is open the app and it will automatically start measuring the noise level in real-time.
My Final Verdict:
Deciber is a fun app for Android to measure noise around you. Let’s say, you want to measure the noise level around you, just for fun or anything else. Then using this app would be the best way to do so. Ultimately, this simple app turns your phone into a tool that measures noise.
