QuickForget is a free web service which lets you share self destructing secrets with friends. Yes, I said self-destructing like – “Agent Ethan Hunt, the message will self destruct in 15 seconds” from Mission Impossible.

It has a very unique concept. When you enter a secret on the web page, it will give you a link or URL to access this secret. You can share this link with your friends by email. The best part is you can set a number of views or time for it to expire. After the expiration your secret will be lost forever. So only the people you want can see this secret.

Here is how QuickForget works:

  • Enter your secret in the box provided and set a number of views or expiration time.

  • Click save my secret.
  • A new link or URL is given to you to share with your friends.

  • Click “Email this link” and send it to your friends.
  • Your friends would be able to view the link and read the secret. At the bottom of the box you can see how many views are remaining or how much time is left for this link to expire.

  • After the number of views or time has expired, the secret will no longer be visible.

It is a fun app apart from being useful. You can share important information that you would not want to put in a email and risk other people seeing it. Makes me remember of the movie Burn After Reading.

The website does not set any cookies in your system and does not keep any archives. So once your secret is gone, its really gone. In case you need something more elaborate like making notes, or sharing notes in a secured way then you can try out JotOnce which is an online note making application to share secured notes with the use of password.

QuickForget is a useful, fun web app which can be used to convey messages without worrying about a third person reading it.
