BuzzFeed is a free news reader app for iPhone. The application has the ability to cover many news domains of your choice and display them beautifully in the form of a digital newspaper. It seamlessly integrates with Facebook and Twitter as well so that you can see the news feed from the two while you are reading the paper. The paper is totally customizable according to your preferences and also covers a number of other sections as well.

Sharing with this application is very easy and the best feature of the same would be one tap ability to share on Whatsapp. I wonder why other apps don’t do this.

Usage and Interface:

The application is fully optimized for use with iOS 7. The application covers many newspaper sections such as

  • World
  • Politics
  • Business
  • Tech
  • DIY
  • Food
  • Rewind
  • Entertainment
  • Celebrity
  • Music
  • LGBT
  • Geeky
  • travel
  • Sports
  • Animals
  • Ideas

You can choose amongst your favorite topics to find them in your personalized feed. One great feature this app has, is the featured section which carries videos and quizzes. The quiz section is a great source of killing your time. It contains some questions like, “what kind of hangover will you have?”,”should you leave london?” and so on. Upon answering certain related questions you can find out the answer to the mentioned questions. It is a fun way to revive the good old Facebook days where these types of apps flooded everyone’s news feed.

There is also a section which says ‘Best of’. It contains fields like LOL, OMG, WTF, Cute, Trashy, EW, Fail, Win etc. They serve as a good dose of humor when you feel bored at some place. There is a community option. You can join various communities from there to get updates from there. The application has the convenient most option of ‘pull to refresh’ for updates. The ‘What’s hot’ section gives the trending topics from all around the world.

There is also an ability to bookmark your favorite stories so that you can choose to read them later for reference. You can also search for the news in your mind from the search option available in the side pane. You can also respond to the stories with a text comment of some pre defined messages such as LOL, OMG et al.

Final Verdict:

The application does not have as cool UI as its alternative Flipboard, but then the data usage in this application is much lesser i.e. you can surf through your favorite news even if the data speed is average. This is a basic plus side of this application. Moreover the UI is pretty clean and easy to get used to. One can easily get addicted to this application for his daily news feed. I totally recommend this app.
