This post explains how to compare Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile network coverage in the US. It is crucial to know about the network coverage of a carrier before buying a cellular connection. Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile are the three major cellular network carriers in the United States. All three offer 4G and 5G cellular networks throughout the nation. However, there are areas where one carrier has better signal strength than the other.

Coverage Map is a free cellular coverage map. It lets you compare signal strength among the three major nationwide networks. The map shows networks’ native (non-roaming) coverage shaded based on predicted signal strengths. It provides the ability to toggle between networks or technologies (e.g., 4G vs. 5G) and allows users to check out specific areas. The map relies on RF models from network operators and is based on data collected by the FCC.

Coverage Map website uses OpenStreetMap to show the network coverage. It lists the three major network carriers on the left side and network technology on the right side. In the top middle, it has a search bar where you can search the area by name, address, or zip code. You can select the carrier and network technology of choice to check each carrier’s coverage.

The map uses hexagons to show the coverage. You can zoom in to get smaller hexagons per area providing better network insight. The map uses a color scheme to show the signal strength. It uses a green-to-orange scale where dark green represents strong signal strength, light-green represents decent signal strength, light orange represents weak signal strength, and orange represents no network coverage.

You can click on a hexagon to get the detailed network insight of a particular area. It opens a popup on the screen where you can toggle between the network carriers to check their 4G and 5G signal strengths in the area. The map also provides technical information showing the estimated indoor and in-vehicle signal strength in dBm.

The map has a setting button in the bottom left corner where you can configure the additional options. Along with Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, you can also include US Cellular and Dish network carriers. You can change the color scheme and toggle the map to satellite view to get a better topological view.
