The term “headshot” (or alternatively, “head shot”) primarily refers to professional profile images found on social media platforms, images featured on the ‘About Us’ page of a corporate website or promotional photos of authors, actors, models and more. Basically, a headshot is a digital portrait that focuses on capturing the essence of the person.

Several years ago, headshots were solely meant for actors and models with the casting directors scouring through hundreds of photos to search for the perfect face for the role in question.
