PsyBall is a free downloadable game which gives you a kaleidoscopic experience with vivid colors while playing something similar to golf. Though the rules of this game do not agree with golf but the aim is same. You have to put the ball in the hole.
So what makes PsyBall different? In PsyBall, you can hit the ball even when it’s moving. Based on this, PsyBall has over 60 unique levels. You also have unlimited amount of hits, which you’ll definitely need to progress through the levels.
The game plot is based on the multiple universe or simply ‘multiverse’ theory. From what I deduced from the intro, I understood that the PsyBall is actually our universe among many such universes. An evil inverted Triforce looking thing consumes our universe/PsyBall and we have to lead the PsyBall to safety through various ‘wormholes’ in each stage.
So let’s save our universe from the evil inverted Triforce. You can also try
How to Play PsyBall
When you first open the PsyBall, you’ll notice that the whole atmosphere is colorful like a kaleidoscope with all the different shapes. To start the game, click on Start. You’ll be shown the intro of the game where the camera zooms out from our pixelated system. It zooms out further showing our low resolution galaxy, clusters of galaxies and then our own universe as a tiny white ball. A wild inverted Triforce appears and swallows our universe whole.
The first level will start where you’ll simply have to put the ball in the hole without any difficulty. To do that, hold the left-click of your mouse and drag in the direction opposite to the direction you want the PsyBall to go. The longer you drag, more will be the force applied on the ball and hence more speed. You don’t have to worry about a score or running out of hits, since PsyBall doesn’t have those constraints.
As you move through the initial levels you’ll know the difficulties you’ll be facing. These are ramps, white noise killers, levers, etc. You won’t have to hit the ball midway till you get to level 5, where you won’t be able to make it up the ramp with one stroke. The white noise blocks will kill your PsyBall as soon as you come in contact, so make sure to steer clear of them. When you come to level 15, you’ll get to hurt the inverted Triforce. You’ll get to hurt the villain in every 15 levels.
You can also select to play the previous levels from the menu or continue from where you left off.
You can also play an endless game mode where the game will keep throwing you generated levels endlessly. This mode is only available when you clear all the 60 levels.
This is an average game where the main aim is to complete the level in any way you can. I think the developer could have made this game more challenging and fun by adding a minimum number of moves you can make on different levels based on the level difficulty. PsyBall also reminds me of the DOS based games, especially platform Golf that I used to play when I was 10. Since the game had a psychedelic ambience, I would suggest you plug in your headphones with some good Electro music. I give this free golf-like psychedelic game, 3.8 stars.
