Jutsu is an Android App which scans your Handwritten Notes and digitizes them. The most striking feature of this app is that it makes your notes searchable using AI (Artificial Intelligence) algorithms. In addition to digitizing notes, Jutsu also converts your scanned documents to PDF that can be shared right from the App.

You can scan multiple handwritten pages, reorder them if required, and store them in a single file. Jutsu also has the capability of applying some filters (like BW, Grayscale etc.) to your scanned pages before saving them. The App is available in PlayStore and can be downloaded from the link provided at the end of this article.

How it Works:

    1. Scan your handwritten document carefully. Align the document inside the Blue frame for proper scanning and take a photograph.
      Scan the document
    2. Apply any filters based upon your requirements.
    3. Add more pages and reorder and rotate them if needed. Save the digitized document (PDF format).
    4. Select the document and enter a ‘Search String’. The AI algorithm will search for the specified string inside the digitized document and highlight all the occurrences.

You can also use documents from your Gallery in case you already have them in your device.

Downside:

  1. There is no option to delete the documents from within the App. You need to do it separately from your OS.
  2. The scanned documents can be shared in PDF format only.

Digitizing different handwritten notes and making it searchable is one of the most difficult tasks in data science. The AI algorithms incorporated by Jutsu do an excellent work in this regard. I scanned and digitized a variety of documents written by different people and searched for numerous strings in them without a single failure.

Overall this is an excellent app to digitize and search your handwritten notes, as easy as typed text. It’s a boon for people who like to write a lot of notes and journals on paper. The developers could add a typed text converter to the App to make it more useful. Go ahead and try it from this link.
