Lappsy is a free Instagram-like app for iPad to create, share animated GIFs. The app is similar to Instagram in main concept except for the fact that Instagram is all about images/video clips but Lappsy is for animated GIFs. You can easily upload images from your device, make GIF out of them, add filters to the GIF, write a caption about it and post it.
Just like Instagram, you can also follow other users, see GIFs posted by them, like their GIFs, and comment on them. You can also share the GIFs, created by you, with others. The other features include exploring animated GIFs created by others.
Using this Instagram Like App for iPad to Create, Share Animated GIFs:
Launch the Lappsy app on your iPad and get yourself registered for an account. On registering with the app, you will see the below shown interface along with 5 options: Home, Explore, Make Story, Notifications, and Profile.
To make your animated GIF (story), tap on the Make Story option. The big Red colored icon is for capturing a new photo and the icon on the left to this icon is for uploading existing photos. Do remember that you can upload up to 30 photos in one story.
On next interface, you will see the preview of the animated GIF created by the app. The time seek bar just below the GIF is for adjusting the time delay. You can choose to set it between 0.05 seconds to 1 seconds. Just below the bar, you can see the row of different filters. You only have to tap on the filter you want to apply and the GIF is changed as per the filter instantly.
The final step is to add a caption to the created GIF. When you have added the caption, just tap on the Upload option to upload your GIF.
The other options of Lappsy are as follows:
- Home: Checkout animated GIFs from those users whom you follow. It’s like your feed. You can like, comment on GIF created by others.
- Explore: Checkout random animated GIFs from even those user whom you don’t follow.
- Notification: Checkout notifications like someone liked your GIF, commented on it, followed you etc..
- Profile: Checkout your own profile like number of users you are following and number of users following you.

Lapps is a good iPad app to create and share animated GIFs, Although the app is like Instagram but it’s still fun to use as its about GIF with option to add filters to them. Do give it a try if you love GIFs or wanna try out a different app.
