For creating a mind map you need to simply click the new button on the interface to start with a drawing. The  diagram is basically drawn in the drawing window that appears when you click the new button. In the drawing window, you need to choose the drawing mode for drawing a diagram.

You can create a very basic and small mind map with only few mouse clicks. Click on the center of the drawing screen to add main box, now click anywhere on the screen for adding sub boxes to it.
