Facebook Ultimate is a free Facebook app for Windows 8. This app brings all the functionality of the Facebook website into a Windows 8 app, right from viewing your own timeline, to posting pictures, to commenting on friends’ posts. The app also has a neat chat bar at the right side of the screen which allows you to set your status to online or offline, and allows you to chat to your friends by clicking on their names and simply initiating the chat. The app shows you all your Facebook notifications as well, and overall, gives you the smoothest and best Facebook experience on your Windows 8 device.
Upon launching the app, you will be asked to sign in to Facebook. When you are done doing so, the familiar Facebook UI will present itself on your screen in a much more polished way than the regular website itself. The app has a control bar permanently opened at the bottom of the screen which has quick toggles to give you access to your Photos, your Friend list etc. You also have the option to pin a particular page to the Start Screen.
Facebook Ultimate is available as a free download from the Windows App Store.
Features of the Facebook Ultimate App for Windows 8:
When you launch the Facebook Ultimate app on your Windows 8 device, you will be presented with a window which looks like the following screenshot.
In the above window, simply type in your Facebook username and Password in the top-right corner of the screen, and press the Log in button. As soon as you are logged in to Facebook, the toggles in the control bar at the bottom will become active. Once logged in, you will be presented with a window which looks like the below screenshot.
In the above window, the Facebook website will present itself. Although you can interact with all the links in the above window, the interesting part is the toggles at the bottom in the control bar. You can simply use these toggles to get to a particular page on your Facebook account quickly. Let’s talk about these toggles in a bit more detail now. (The toggles discussed below are from left to right at the bottom of the screen)
Back: As the name suggests, clicking on this button takes you back to the previous page that you were on. Really useful if you have clicked on a link and want to go back to the previous page.
Refresh: Reloads the Facebook page. Useful if the page hasn’t loaded up properly or in other similar situations.
Pin Page: Clicking on this button allows you to pin the page that you are currently at to the Start Screen of your device.
News Feed: Clicking here shows you the latest news feeds from your Facebook friends, or from the apps that you use or the pages you have liked. Clicking on the News Feed button basically takes you back to your Facebook homepage, where the updated feeds are visible.
Find: Allows you to find your friends from other ids like Windows Live etc. who use Facebook as well. Clicking on this button will take you to a page which looks like the below screenshot.
As you can see in above screenshot, you simply have to enter your Skype/Windows Live/Yahoo etc. id and password, and Facebook will automatically find if the people with the ids that you mentioned are on Facebook or not. You can then add them as friends, or simply send them a message.
Messages: Clicking this takes you to your Message inbox from where you can reply to messages sent to you. (see the screenshot below)
Events: Clicking here shows you the upcoming events that you have been invited to. (see below screenshot)
In the above screenshot, you can see the upcoming events.
Friends: Clicking here will show you your Facebook friend list. (see below screenshot)
Photos: Clicking here shows you the photos that either you have uploaded, or you’ve been tagged in.
Once you are done working on Facebook, you can log out of Facebook. This is pretty much all there is to using this app. You can also check out the official Facebook app for Android if you want to experience the power of Facebook on your Android device.

The app has neat and intuitive toggles on the Control bar at the bottom that make the Facebook experience on your Windows 8 device even more better.
