Avidemux is a free open source video editor. It is designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks so that everyone can use it to edit videos.
Avidemux supports many file formats. Video formats include multiple codecs for FLV, MPEG, AVI, VCD, H.263/4, and others, while audio formats include MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, WAV, and a few more.

Great feature of Avidemux is that it makes editing videos really easy. To crop a section, just select the secion, and hit delete. To convert a file to another format, just select the option of Save as, and choose format from that. So, editing becomes very intuitive.
