BikeMap is a free website with world’s largest bike routes and maps directory. It offers more than 2 million bike routes associated with maps across the world. This website is not limited to exploring bike routes and maps, as you can also create and share your own bike routes. You can simply enter a region name on the search bar to discover all the available bike maps and cycling routes on that particular location. Browse a route to view stats like distance, ascent, descent, profile graph, and download it as a GPX or KML file. It also lets you toggle various map views such as Heatmap, Relief Map, Google Roadmap, Google Hybrid, and OpenStreetMap.
It comes with an interactive dashboard where you can track your biking activities, saved routes, created routes, ridden routes, and tracked routes. Another great feature of this website is that it shows which bike (road bike, city bike, and mountain bike) should be used for different kind of routes and tracks.

How to Find World’s Best Bike Routes or Maps and Create Custom Routes:
Step 1: Visit the homepage of BikeMap and sign up to get started. On the main page, you’ll see a search bar where you can enter a route or region name to discover bike routes and maps. After entering a name hit the “Search” icon to explore. Remember, the routes shown in a search result includes both the official and submitted routes by users.
Step 2: As soon as you do that, all the available bike routes on that location will appear along with the maps on the right. It also shows which bike fits perfectly with different bike routes. You can also configure and refine the search by defining the distance, ascent, surface, and bike types. To browse any particular route, you can either click the route on the left or select any of the icon shown on the map.
Step 3: While browsing a route, you will see various details like the distance, ascent, descent, description, tags, comments, and the associated map of the route. You can also save, flag, share, comment, and download the route as a GPX or KML file while viewing it. On the right, you will see the associated map where you can toggle map views like Heatmap, Relief Map, OpenStreetMap, Google Hybrid, and Google Roadmap to get a clear view of the route.
Step 4: If you wish to create your own bike routes, then simply click the “New Route” button at the top corner. The editor will open up with a map and route details section. You will see a toolbar on the left of the map with various tools using which you can draw route along roads, select points to delete, return to start point, add a point of interest (like a hotel, watermark, workshop, etc.), and add points of interest directly from Wikipedia.
Step 5: In the route details section, you can insert title image, route title, description, upload existing GPX/KML file, surface info (paved, unpaved, or gravel), bike type (road bike, city bike, or mountain bike), and route privacy.
Step 6: Click your username at the top and select dashboard. In the dashboard, you will be able to track your biking activities (ridden distance, ridden duration, maps, and ascent), saved routes, tracked routes, created routes, ridden routes, etc.
