Retro for Instagram is a free Instagram client app for iPad. This app lets you do almost everything related to Instagram except for uploading your own photo or video. You can browse your timeline, user profiles, comment and favorite posts, check your own profiles, search for anything, and discover new & trending images on Instagram. The app also lets you share any Instagram photo or video by email, iMessage, Facebook, Twitter, or copy post URL to clipboard.
The app lets you choose from 4 types of view types for browsing through all the Instagram posts be it in your timeline or under any other option. It also updates you about new likes and comments on your posts via notifications. The other cool feature of the app is that it provides a widget for you to check latest posts from your Instagram account from Notification Center but it’s only for iOS 8 users.
Using Free Instagram Client App for iPad:
You can choose to use Retro for Instagram app without logging in to your Instagram account. In that case, you can only browse the trending photos and nothing else. So to use this app to its maximum potential, it’s highly recommended to log-in with your Instagram account.
On logging in, you will see the app’s home screen which is set to your Timeline by default. You will see the latest posts by all the Instagram users whom you are following. The photos are aligned from recent to older. The option for changing the view type is at top right corner, choose from 4 of the available methods.
You have to tap on any post to view it in enlarged form. You can also check number of likes and read other’s comments along with option to give your comment and like it. Tap on any user’s name to view his/her Instagram profile.
The other options of this Instagram client app for iPad are on left side: Profile, Notification, Favorite, Search, and Discover.
- Profile: Check your own profile from here including posts, followers, and following. You can also tap on any of your post to see its number of comments and favorites.
- Notification: Check notifications related to your profile like someone commenting on profile and favoring any of your posts.
- Favorite: Check posts marked as favorite by you.
- Search: Search for users using either username or hashtags.
- Discover: Check out featured users, featured places and Trending Now Instagram posts from here.
The app also has a widget for iOS 8 users using which they can check a quick preview of latest posts on your Instagram timeline.
