Here is a list of 10 free online expense manager websites. These websites offer you various features and tools which help you manage and keep a close eye on your expenses. These websites provide you with various pre-made expense categories which are made on the basis of common ways of spending money, but you can always create custom expense categories. Some of these websites also have their smartphone apps which make it possible for you to add expenses on the go and access them anywhere. And let me tell you, these websites aren’t just meant for adding expenses. They also provide you with expense reports which help you in tracking where all your money is going and are you overspending.

Mint is really the one website that everyone needs to be using if they want to track their expenses in a central place. Do know that it is not a true expense tracker, and would probably need to be supplemented by one of the other websites in this list, but if you even use just this website, you have won more than half of the battle. The main purpose of this website is to track all your bank accounts, credit cards, loans, etc. in one place. Now, lot of websites let you do that, but you have to enter all the transactions manually, and that’s where Mint shines above the rest. In Mint, you just need to provide credentials of your bank account, and Mint will automatically pull all the information from that, and will keep it updated. So, if you have many accounts, credit cards, etc., you just need to go to Mint to see all the information in one central place. In addition to that, what I love is that it also classifies the transactions, so you can see how much you are spending on shopping, utilities, and even fee. Track Every Coin is a feature rich but easy to use online expense manager. You can use it to manage your expenses, incomes, bill reminders, and other financial stuff. For any entry, you can choose to enter the amount, date and time, type of entry, and category. It also supports uploading of related documents like bills, receipts, etc. While adding any expense, you can categorize it as Normal, Shared, or Reimbursement. There is a unified dashboard which gives you the overview of all your expense related activities be it expense or income. The good thing is that you can also track the amount of money you owe to others and the money others owe to you. You can even download a free PDF report any time you want.

The website also shows a bar at the top of the interface which shows your expenses, income, budget, and savings for the month. This bar remains visible regardless of the fact that which page of the website you’re visiting.

3. Buxfer:

Buxfer is the online expense manager with a really good user interface. All the options are available on the left sidebar, some of them are Dashboard, Report, Budget, Reminders, Contacts, Tags, etc. For adding expenses; you can add them manually, uploading receipts, or by adding bank accounts. The website also let you choose whether you want to add single or multiple entries. One of the good features of the website is that you can tag your transactions as per your choice. These tags make it easier for you to look for any particular transaction when there are a plenty of them.

The unique feature of Buxfer is the Forecast feature which predicts your financial situation depending upon your transaction history. Although, this is a paid feature but, Buxfer lets you use it for first 15-days after the account creation.

Clear Check Book is the next website in the list, which is dedicated to helping users to manage expenses. There are four main options: Dashboard, Budget, Reports, and Tools. The Dashboard is a quick way of having an overview of what’s happening with your money and where it is going. The Dashboard has a 3 column view and you can add multiple gadgets to each column. Here, the gadgets are nothing but the tools which show you info regarding a particular thing. For example, some of the available gadgets are: Add Transaction, Latest Transaction, Reminders, Account Overview, Calculator, etc. You can add and delete any gadget any time.

The one unique feature of this website is to Jive a transaction. When you jive any transaction, it means that the transaction has got cleared and there’s no uncertainty over its clearance. To jive any transaction, you only have to click on the checkbox in front of Jive option while adding it.

5. Expense View:

Expense View

Expense View is the online expense manager which is focused on simplicity. There are only 3 tabs: Expenses, Income, and Balance. There are 5 default categories of expenses: Auto, Eating Out, Gas, Groceries, and Utilities. For each transaction, you have to enter the type, amount, and a comment (optional). There is a box called Recently Added Expenses, which lets you have a look recent expenses made by you. Similarly, you can go to Income and Balance section to add data to them. Apart from adding transactions, you can easily analyze them using breakdown and trends tools.

Just Budget is the website which lets you track your expenses and flow of money only after you have created the budget. You can create multiple budgets if you want. For each budget, you have to enter the expense and income details. There are no preset categories for both income/expense, and you have to create all of them manually. Although it may sound a little bit of extra work but this way, you can categorize your expenses the way you want. For the added transactions, the website shows a monthly breakdown of the flow of your money, graphs for savings, monthly totals, and transactions count. It also shows top 5 popular category and locations of your expenses.

7. Money Trackin:

To use Money Trackin website to track and manage expenses, you have to create an account(s). Don’t confuse the account term here with the registered account which you get by signing up. Under each account, you can track its own transactions: Expenses and Income. To add any transaction; you have to enter its type, amount, and the date. If the transaction is income, then add it as positive integer and if it’s the expense, then add it as negative. For example, if you have an income of $1000 and expense of $200 then you will add them as “1000” and “-200” respectively. When the transaction is added, the expenses are shown with Red font color and incomes are shown with Green font color. There is also an inbuilt calculator which lets you do any type of calculation easily. You can also set monthly limits for different types of transactions to have a better control over your money.

8. Spending Profile:

Spending Profile is the eight website in the list and its USP is neat and well-organized layout. You won’t find any problems in navigating through the website and finding out the options or tools which matter the most. The main interface of the website shows you the options to add new transactions. You have to select whether it is Expense or Income and then fill out the corresponding fields. For each transaction, there are three compulsory fields to enter: Date, Amount, and Category. When you have added the transactions, you can analyze them easily via graph and colorful pie charts. This website also supports uploading of transaction file, which you get from your bank’s website. 9. Xpenser:

Xpenser is the second last online expense manager in this list. This website is purely focused on managing expenses hence, there are options only for adding expenses and no income(s). For adding expenses, you have to create categories of expenses first. Once you have the categories, it is really easy to add expense transactions. For adding new transaction, you simply need to enter the amount, select category, add notes, tags, date, and you are done. Another good feature of the the website is that you can create Projects to track expenses related to anything specific like a department, client, job, person, etc. Do remember that for using Xpenser, you should have either Google or Coupa (parent company of Xpenser) account.

10. Flowzer:

Flowzer

Flowzer is the last website in the list to manage your expenses and keep an eye on the flow on money. You have to create account(s) to use the website. Each account represents transactions related to a specific type like a bank account, person, department, etc.  To add new transaction, you have to enter date, choose account, description, amount category and payee name. The field where you will enter the amount also lets you choose whether it is an expense or income. Now coming to reports, Flowzer offers 4 types of reports: Balance, Flow, Category, and Profit-Loss Report. It also lets you save currency exchange rates for handling transactions in currency other than the one chosen by you.
