Switch Off is a free software that you can install on your system to easily do regular tasks, like shutting down your system, disconnect from network, and many other similar activities. Switch Off sits in your taskbar, and lets you do all these activities in just one click. However, the best feature of Switch Off is that you can switch off your PC remotely if Switch Off is running on your computer.

To shutdown your computer remotely, you simply access your computer remotely by providing its IP address, and then you can instruct Switch Off to shutdown your computer remotely. However, a problem  that I found with Switch Off is that you need to know the external IP address of your computer. However, sometimes your Internet provider can change your IP address, as they provide dynamic IP most of the time. In that case, you won’t know the external IP address of your computer, and won’t be able to connect to it.

I like Switch Off for its simplicity, but I really wish it addresses the problem of static IP address. An option to create an online account, and then accessing your computer through that would have been a better option. If static IP is a problem for you as well, you can try TweetMyPC.
