Similar concepts are used by other iPhone apps that provide a number of mindfulness sessions from expert trainers to help you get rid of insomnia and improve your sleeping patterns. Relax Melodies is a free iPhone app which can help you sleep better. There are around 50+ free different sounds to create ambiances and 2 free brainwave frequencies to relax and concentrate better. So, if you are not being able to take a sound nap due to some sort of stress, you can plug in an earphone and use this app to guide your way to a fine sleep. You can combine up to 12 different sounds to create a natural atmosphere and in-app melodies together. There are a couple of free audio sessions as well for meditation which are combined with relaxing melodies and ambiance sounds to make your body relax and fall asleep quickly. It also lets you set alarms and timers to automatically close the app after a specific time. Another exciting feature is that the app will work fine even if you are not connected to the internet. Internet connection is only required to download meditations. In a meditation session, a trainer will guide you to fall asleep and tells you about the postures and some exercises that you can do while still lying on the bed to quickly fall asleep. I really liked this app and already installed it on my Android too.

Relax & Sleep Well by Glenn Harrold is a free iPhone app that can help you beat insomnia by guided meditation and self-hypnosis sessions which can help you fall asleep quickly. The free version of this app comes with 4 mindfulness sessions in which the trainer i.e. Glenn Harrold guides you to a deep sleep. The sessions are quite useful as they can also be used to get relief from stress and make your body calm and peaceful. There are some brainwaves and ambiance sounds within a mindfulness session which will instantly make you feel good, composed, and most importantly make you fall asleep. There are other mindfulness sessions as well, but they are not free and you need to upgrade the app in order to buy it.
Pzizz is another free iPhone app designed to deal with insomnia and make you fall asleep faster. The app comes with two different modes Nap and Sleep to make you more relaxed and take a fine sleep. The Nap mode allows you specify the time interval (in minutes) for which you want to sleep and then it wakes you up after the time interval is over. In sleep mode, you can specify the time at which you want to wake up and then app works as an alarm and play a tone to wake you up. Whichever mode you started the app with, it will then play a sleep-optimized music and voiceover to put you asleep and then wake you up totally refreshed. So, just plug in your earphones and choose a mode to sleep and then listen to scientifically optimized music and voiceover to quickly fall asleep.

SnoozeCast is another free iPhone app which can put you to sleep quickly by playing bedtime stories. You will surely like this app if you were used to hear stories childhood before going to bed; I surely miss those days. There are more than 40 audiobooks that you can download (source: LibriVox) and listen to them before going to sleep. It automatically lowers the story volume during the last minute of the story and if you are awake you can shake your phone to let it know and it resets the timer again. The audio books in the app are of famous writers like Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare, etc. This is a bonus for all literature lovers out there as you can listen to famous stories of these legendary writers and sleep to their fantastic stories.

Relaxing Sounds is another ambiance sound iPhone app on my list that you can hear during your bedtime to relax and go to sleep quickly. You can listen to different sounds like heavy rainfall, waterfall, clock, etc. Unlike Relax Melodies (on top of my list), you can’t play multiple sounds at once and there are just 5 free sounds available. For others, you need to purchase the app. There is a sleep timer that you can activate after which the app will automatically close itself. The interface is like a standard music player and you can easily play the ambiance sounds.
