Big Meter Pro by Microsys is a free desktop application which displays real time usage of computer’s Memory, Disk and CPU. It shows the percentage usage in big dials, just like a speedo meter, for your convenient observation. You can also see some basic details of your system’s microprocessor, memory or disk. It is a simple and easy to use tool to monitor your system’s performance.
As you can see from the below screenshot, this application has a basic User Interface and a clean layout. Big Meter Pro will basically show you the usage of four key parameters of your system’s performance. These are: Process usage, CPU information, Disk usage and Memory information.
It is automatically launched on system start up and comes up on your desktop. You can then drag it and place it anywhere on the screen. The numbers which you can see on the dial are the respective percentage usage.
You can right click on it and choose from the options it provide, which are:
- Dial Form: 2G and 3G
- Dial Opacity: 10% to 100%
- Hand Shape: Shape of Dial’s hand
- Stay on Top: with this option, it will stay on top of all the running applications.
Big Meter Pro allows you to view currently running processes, just like Task Manager. You can sort the processes based on their ID, Process name or CPU Usage. However I did not find it appealing because our Task Manager does a better job here where as Big Meter Pro provides a big interface and less information.
To view CPU, Memory or Disk information, you can simply right click on Dial and choose any of these three options. You will get to see the respective information. It provides some basic setting options as well like, Auto run on start up, Sound Alert, Show percentage, Smooth motion, Show colour Hand (Orange on above 50% usage and Red after 75%) and Disk Letter (C –Z).

Overall Review
Big Meter Pro is like a windows widget, but its main attraction is its simplicity. It runs with ease and takes very little memory. It is movable and can be placed anywhere on the screen. However I did not find anything special about this application. It shows you very limited and basic information. You can get much more info from our very old Task manager. Big Meter Pro is an attractive app, but not more than a mere decoration for the desktop. Try it from here and let us know if you like it.
