STDU Viewer is a free document viewer designed to be able to open all of the file formats most commonly used in scientific and technical documentation. STDU Viewer supports common formats such as TXT and PDF, and also uncommon formats like CBR. This makes it useful for both the common computer user, as well as for those who come across technical and scientific documents often and have to deal with opening a number of document viewers for a number of file formats. This free document viewer opens them all without a problem.

If you just want to open PDF files, you can use Foxit PDF Reader, Nuance PDF Reader, or Sumatra PDF Viewer.

Popular File Formats supported by STDU Viewer:

STDU supports all of the formats coveted by the creators of scientific and technical documentation. These include TXT, TCR, TIFF, PDF, DjVu, Comic Book Archive (CBR or CBZ), XPS and JBIG2. With such a huge range of formats on offer, there is very little chance that you won’t be able to view your documentation with this free document viewer.

Here are some of the feature of Free STDU Viewer:

  • Use content to quick jump from one section to another.
  • Create bookmarks. This allows you to mark a particular part of the document in order to come back to it later. A particularly useful feature for longer files, we liked this part of the software.

Whilst the number of features may seem limited, these two main features are very strong and they also ensure that the program remains light and not loaded up with unnecessary frills that do not enhance the user’s experience in anything other than a superficial way.

If you want a free document viewer loaded with features, then you are better off looking at some of the others on the market, such as Evince Document Viewer. These have more features, but won’t be as light a download as a consequence. If you want to view images, you can use FastStone Image Viewer, and Crystal Reports Viewer can show Crystal Reports.

Conclusions…

So, if you’re simply looking for a way to view your scientific and technical documentation without having to use multiple pieces of software, then this free document viewer is for you.
